My Artistic Journey

A personal telling.

During the next four years I had a number of exhibitions in Brisbane and it was interesting that, more than once, critics saw in my work the influence of artists whom, at that time, I had never heard of. I feel there could be a collective unconscious we unknowingly draw from, that contains the sum total of human thought and experience, past, present and future. In 1974, to my great surprise, my painting “Blue Eros” was awarded First Prize in the Queensland Rugby Union Art Competition against strong competition from many better-known local and interstate artists.
